The Masayasu Ueno Memorial Programme“Let’s Enhance Experience of Japan”
Dear Indian Students in Japanese Universities and Colleges:
The Masayasu Ueno Memorial Programme is an annual support programme established in April 2016 to encourage Indian students studying in Japan to deepen their understanding and experience of various aspects of Japanese society, including culture, science and technology, nature, customs, and community life.
This year, the programme will support collaborative activities undertaken by pairs consisting of one Indian student and one Japanese student.
Applications should be submitted jointly by each pair and must include a concise yet concrete proposal outlining the intended activity in Japan. The application deadline is 30 June.
Selected pairs will be invited to an online interview via Zoom in late July. A small number of outstanding pairs will be awarded grants of up to 200,000 yen to support their proposed activities. Grant recipients will be required to submit a report in either Japanese or English upon completion of their project.
In addition, the pair presenting the most distinguished achievement will receive a special award, and their report will be published on the Foundation’s website.
The Foundation sincerely welcomes applications from highly motivated and intellectually curious student pairs. Further details are available on our website: https://www.shimonaka.or.jp
The application form may also be downloaded from the website.
The Shimonaka Memorial Foundation was established in 1962 in memory of Yasaburo Shimonaka, an educator, publisher, and advocate of World Federalism. Deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, he cultivated friendships with a number of distinguished figures in India, including Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Judge Radha Binod Pal.
